Using my own and other people’s poetry, participants will engage with the earth as part of themselves. Using guided meditation and group activities they will produce poems which express a new relationship with their planet. One that necessitates responsibility, nurture, and care. I aim to create bonds between the community of participants. Break down the perceived boundaries between them and their environment bringing ecology and environmental awareness into their hearts. Poetry has a way of breaking down the mental barriers we are unaware we have, allowing a person to open to ideas, viewpoints and understandings that may have been blocked for them. Gentle, beautiful, and powerful, poetry can help people become motivated to care for themselves and their local environments. Small steps but many of them, all working for a whole planet.
